It may have over heated and yes it can be fixed. The primary cause of motors overheating is that the filters are not cleaned or replaced frequently enough. Dont be fooled by Dyson's "lifetime filters". They need to be regularly cleaned and replaced when necessary. As regards what the problem might be; If the fuse in the plug is good, then this could be a faulty cable orswitch, but could also be a faulty motor. The motor also has a built in over-current protection device which normally automatically resets itself, but if the motor has a serious fault or the over-current device itself is faulty then this could be the cause. Both the switch and motor are available quite cheaply oneBay, but fitting new ones requires good DIY skills (especially the motor), and some unusual tools (Torx). Have a look atwww.dysonmedic.comwhich has some great info on repairing your machine, but if you dont feel you can repair it yourself, time tocalla vacuum repairer or the Dyson helpline.
