My e-machines will not let me upgread my ddr2 1eb memory
I went to best buy, they told me that I could upgread my e-machines t5082 computer memory to 2gb with the ddr2 memory sets.1gb each. my computer would no boot up. so I tolk out one of the new memory chips and put the old memory chip back into my system leving in one of the new 1gb chip. My system would boot up but only reading a small part of the new memory. with the 1gb chip installed my system only reads 1065mb of ram.

That Machine would take DDR2 PC2-5300 upgrade chips. The max that system could take would be two 1GB sticks for a total of 2GB or 2048MB of memory. Memory is fairly easy to damage with static discharge and is also very easy to not put in all the way. When putting it in, unplug the power from the computer, push and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds to help discharge power from the computer, Line up the pins on the memory and push them into place till the little arms at the sides of the slot pop up and click into place. I'd install one chip at a time, powering the machine up after the first chip to make sure it works, then starting over again. The only time I'd install both chips at the same time would be when installing a memory kit (two or more chips in one package), in which case, install both chips before powering it on.
