My echo srm 2100 weedeater will start, but when I squeeze the lever to give it gas it chokes out. The filter is clear. There is a new spark plug. What could be wrong?
There are an array of things that could be wrong, but most likely this is a carburetion problem. For starters, make sure the fuel lines are soft and there are no cracks or pinholes in them. They tend to break down after time. I don't know the age of this machine, but a gasket and diaghragm kit may bring it back to normal operation. The parts in this little kit are easy to install and not very expensive. Another issue of note is there is a very fine mesh screen inside the fuel pump chamber of the carburetor that traps dirt and foreign particles. It is easy to access and clean, once you have the pump cover off. The internal parts of the carburetor need to be soft and pliable like the fuel lines to operate correctly. They dry out after time and need replacing. All these little carbs have this issue at some point in their usage. If you remove the carb, gaskets and diaghragms, try spraying all the holes with carb cleaner aerosol spray after cleaning the fine mesh screen. If a good cleaning doesn't help, then you probably need the gasket and diaghragm kit for that carburetor.
