My eureka 5902 4D bagless uprights roller brush stopped spinning. The belt is ok. This model has a sliding switch for roller speed. The brush should spin when you release the handle via the foot release. Bad brush motor or is there a fuse involved?
The same thing happened to me about a year ago with this very model. The issue on mine was a small, copper-colored metal wheel that attaches to the end of the brush roller. You'll need to remove the top cover (there are several screws).
Once it's off, you should see the belt, the beater brush, and the metal gear. The gear didn't fit correctly - so the motor just spins without moving the brush. I ended up going to the store and buying superglue that withstands high tempuratures, then gluing the gear to the motor's shaft... and hammering the thing into place before the glue 'set' too much. ...Not fun, but it's working and has been ever after. I can take photos of the thing if need be.
