My eXplorist XL is locked up
Hello
I have an eXplorist XL from Magellan (I have heard all the bad things about Magellan already, so please don't go there). The unit is completely locked up, an will not boot. It starts, says checking media and beeps, and goes into a loop from there on the same checking media screen. I have spoken with support and they are saying that I can throw it away because it cannot be repaired because it is discontinued.
I have tried pushing buttons to reset the unit, and it will not budge. Does anyone have any ideas on how to repair the software on my XL?
Thanks

Error message at start-up reads: "Press ENTER to continue NAND, Press ESC to cancel". Either choice I seclect and the unit shuts-down.
"With you XL turned off press nav + power; then change the numbers in the box from 00 to 95 by using the joystick and then press the joystick itself; (ENTER), accepting what is proposed...
Either FORMAT or SCAN... LET IT RUN!
After turning the gps on again and pressing enter the NAND will be configured and your gps will become in order again. Your system will immediately start to re-set itself.
If necessary, in usb file transfer mode, reload the basemap in the directory background maps..."
The only difference is that I had to load my SD card in the unit for it to work during the FORMAT.
My unit is NOW re-booting back to normal!
I've had a problem similar to this and found that it was caused by the GPS having trouble reading the SD card, either because it wasn't seated properly or because it was dirty.
Hope this helps
