My fan had been slow to start spinning and as time progressed it became more labored in trying to get the fan turning. So on the last attempt it just refused to turn. I does power up but will not turn. I am not sure if it might need oil or some cleaning? Any help appreciated
I have found that fans like this that sit on the floor are prone to get hair wrapped around the shaft. (Especially in my daughter's room!) You can't see the hair because its hidden by the hub of the fan blade. You have to open the cover and remove the fan blade from the motor. There might be a set screw on this one. Some just pull off. Once you get the hair removed, confirm if the shaft is easy to turn with your fingers. You can oil the front bearing without further disassembly (use a light weight oil, like sewing machine oil, but not WD40 which is too light) If it's still hard to turn you will have to disassemble the motor to oil the rear bearing, unless there is an oil hole. good luck, Al K
