MY fdf12072S WAS WORKING FINE ON MY COMPAC BEFORE. bUT THE COMPUTER WAS GETTING SLOW AND SO AFTER REFORMATTING THE DESKTOP AND REINSTALLING SOME OF THE VARIOUS SOFTWARES I WAS ASET TO TRANFER THE IMPORTANT FILES I HAD MOVED TO THE FANTOM. IT SHOWS UP AS LOCAL DISK K BUT I CANNOT ACCESS IT. IT WANTS TO FORMAT THE DRIVE (WHICH I BELIEVE WILL ERASE ALL THE FILES I NEED). WHY IS IT NOT RECOGNIZED NOW? AND WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT? I NEED THESE IMAGE AND EMAIL FILES. THANKS. CHUCK RAPOPORT
Computers & Internet - Fantom - Drives FDU12072S 120 GB Hard Drive
Did you change operating systems? windows doesnt recognize EXT2 formats there may be an issue there.
was the other drive part of a raid array before the retooling? if it was part of a raid array you may need to rebuild the array before accessing the files.
next insure there are no special drivers required to access the drives nothing wierd like scsi interface or PCI card controller?
if there is no wierd issues try useing the setup disk as a boot disk drop to DOS and access the drive that way.
