I assume your engine has high mileage . When bearings wear out in an engine all the oil will not circulate through the engine . It will spray out the sides of the bearings and go back into the oil pan . This reduces oil pressure . Also another cause could be damage or a score in a bearing or bearings do to dirt or contaminates in the oil . The oil sender or pressure sensor can be another reason for the warning light . They can give a false reading . Thr presure can be checked with a hydrolic presure gauge to determine if the problem is with the sender unit or the bearings .
