My Garmin Nuvi 1450 has a defective input jack on the back of it. Therefore it will not charge battery. Garmin knew about this issue with models 1450 to 1490 but done nothing. I need it fixed
I have a Garmin nuvi 1450 and been having problems with it for quite some time. I just learned that Garmin knew about this defective input jack on the back of these units but failed to contact their customers. There has been a lot of people wondering what the issue was. I just found out the other day. Garmin has a terrible support system. The only answer I got from Garmin that those models were discontinued. Now I know why. Garmin should of contacted their registered customers so they could of fixed this issue. Instead they done nothing. Should I contact my attorney to see if there is a class action law suite against Garmin? Also should I report this issue to the BBB. This is a crime what they did. They need to fix these inferior GPS units.

Tread carefully with legal action
you have to prove beyond doubt that the manufacturer knew of the fault and then failed to inform their customer base
tricky fiel here
however you may have a better case to investigate a warranty claim as there is an implied condition that a customer can expect a reasonable operation from a unit purchased and if it fails from a design fault / flaw regardless of the stipulated warranty period , the buyer would be entitled to that reasonable period of operation
an example of this would be a piece of electronic equipment
it has a warranty of 12 months
that warranty would cover the unit for all but water immersion , dropping, shocks etc
but if it is treated with respect and all of the warranty conditions are met by the buyer and there is an inbuilt design flaw ( circuit board not properly supported) then the buyer would be entitled to a warranty claim well after the termination of the warranty period because the expectation is that it will be serviceable for a period well outside the warranty period
I would go with talking to a solicitor/ lawyer but the action you take will be your action and not class action
you never know your luck as the social media now has a very large impact of faulty company products and sales
