My gateway laptop will not hold a charge unless the power cord is jiggled and placed in ackward positions. i assumed it was the ac adapter, replaced it, and now im still having the same problem. does my laptop have a short? any thoughts? thanks, short fuse

It looks like the battery is already defective. try to remove the battery and use only the ac adapter. if your computer works fine using only the ac adapter, then the battery is already degraded and needs to be replaced.
