My gbt-502A tester doesn't work. I've had it for a few years and it used to work great. The needle stays on the red and doesn't move. I've tried brand new batteries just to try to get it to move. What's the life expectancy for this unit? Is there any way to fix it myself? thanks, Todd Norian
Sometimes the wire connecting the negative (-) terminal comes off the metal contact. Check by extending the slider and looking at the underside. This is easily resoldered. Use some care. Sometimes the other end of the same wire will come off inside the unit. If the 9 volts test (side contacts) works and the others don't this may be the case. IF you can open it, it is again a simple repair - BUT - good luck trying to reseal the unit!
Some GBT models come fused, try replacing the fuse in the device (if it has one) and see if that works for you. also you may one to check yoru battery terminals any corrosion build up can block you connection between your battery and the tester. Use a tooth brush to clear the terminals. Hope that helps
