I am going off uk but generally there is a fuse in the back of the radio where the wires clip in. If you are getting power then it won't be that. There are two power in's on a uk radio. A permanent (yellow) to save the memory and a normal live wire(red) for when in use. You could try swapping these over ( if it has these over there). If it is a radio with a detachable front then it may be getting a bad connection there and it's nothing to do with the way it is wired.I am going off uk but generally there is a fuse in the back of the radio where the wires clip in.
