It sounds like the laser that reads the disc could be faulty or the motor that rotates the disc is not working. Does the disc spin when the disc is inserted?

The laser in a dvd /cd player wears out over time and reduces in intensity. The only way to overcome this problem is to replace the laser assembly. You need to find an authorised repairer in your area to diagnose the problem. The other possibilty is that the spindle motor which rotates the disc is faulty. Either way the unit neds to be looked at.The laser in a dvd /cd player wears out over time and reduces in intensity. The only way to overcome this problem is to replace the laser assembly.
