My Honda Element is making a growling sound when it is in any gear. It is louder when the car is cold and gets quieter as it warms up. It does not growl when it is in park or neutral. Transmission fluid is full and recently flushed transmission about 15,000 miles ago. 130,000 miles on car. Otherwise the car runs perfectly

This is a transmission issue. I have replaced transmissions because of this problem.
What type of trans service was done. If it was a flush with some type of chemical, there may be a warranty. If only a drain and fill, possibly wrong fluid was used. Only genuine Honda transmission fluid is recommended.
Usually the trans will continue to do this for a long time without being totally undriveable.
Allowing the engine to warm up first will prolong the life of the trans as well.
On few Occasions, it could be Bearing Problem. But, Usually if that is a Bearing Problem, the noise increases with Speed. It would be a Costly Expensive even in case of Bearing. Would cost more than $500. Not for the Part but to get to it.
