Poss vac leak at the brake booster Throwing the timing off? Could be a combo of a brake problem & engine problem. Is the knock from the engine or the chassis? Strut mounts? I'm sure you checked the brake system by now. PS If you didn't, check the fluid, calipers & ck for loose brake pads. Adj rear if appl. Knocking from the motor- ck plugs, wires, coils (poss missing) Good Luck
