My HP G60-230US Computer will not start. The computer is a little more than 2 years old. Every so often when I would start the computer it would say "No boot device found". I would restart the computer and it was fine. The last time this happened the computer did not start. Here is what happens when I press the power button: The power LED on the switch lights The WiFi LED lights orange. The power led on the front of the computer lights white. About 10 seconds later the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) LED on the front of the computer lights for about 3 seconds then turns off for about 1 second. At this time The LCD back light lights. Then the HDD LED lights again for about 1 second and turns off. What I have done so far. I removed the battery and power supply and held the power button for 60 seconds. I tried all combination of power (battery, AC, Battery and AC...) following this and the computer acts the same. I tried pressing F10 but the computer remains with a blank screen. Tried an external monitor but nothing. I removed the HDD and copied the data off of it with an USB adapter on another computer so it must be good. I removed the 2 memory modules and inserted them in every configuration 1 module in the bottom slot The other module in the bottom slot. Each module in the top slot only. Modules swapped in the slots. I removed the wifi card and tried to boot. I opened the screen to it's full swing and still nothing. I am going to take the computer apart and start looking for loose broken connections. Has anyone had this problem and successfully fixed their computer? Thanks in advance
What OS? what windows running?vista? 2011 system (oldest) if the BIOS screens are dead? even with flash light? that is dead screen or system power is dead use the external display port, see if it works of its dead to. the HDD does not kill BIOS BIOS is in ROM and always works. if there is power. BIOS works There are many things kill BIOS, 1:lost power, (inside) battery out, power pack good.! 2: video chip dead ,screen bad. 3: processor dead. 4:lost all memory, not likely 5: and more, its a computer, most things on the mobo needs to be good. find why bios is dead, no HDD needs to be in the system to do that., also you can pull ram and here it beep codes, that mean ram dead, this proves CPU is alive and BIOS not dead. the rom BIOS does that beeping, dig?
ever use the external VGA port 15pins ever use a flash light aimed at a dead screed hey look , the data is there,, just no black light
Sounds like your motherboard malfunctioned. the board was probably starting to go out. thats why it would see the hdd then not.
you sound like youre familiar with computers. you may want to invest in diagnostic cards to troubleshoot problems like this. theyre fairly inexpensive on ebay. basically you insert the card into pci slot and it displays an error code. then you look up the code in a book. works like the obd2 reader for your car.
