I would advise you remove and clean the carburetor. Put it back together with a rebuild kit. You can get the kit at most / any small engine repair shop. Make a note of how the linkage and fuel lines go before you take it apart. the gas residue in the carb could be messing you up.

Could be clogged gas cap. Take the cap off and see if you can blow air through it. If no air passes, the trimmer will become vapor locked and wont be able to get enough gas.check out.Thanks.
