Have the 20 GB version and I loved it. Now it is not working. It starts up very slowly and when I play a song it is very slow in starting - the display creeps along. When the display indicates that is is playing it does not play on the headphones - even if I connect the headphones via the remote. Navigation through the menus is normal though. The problem seems to be only when I play any songs. I can access the HDD with no problem when connect to my machine. But, my player is now just an expensive 20GB HD. Based on feedback from iriver estore I replaced the Toshiba 1422 HDD and formatted it, but it still does not play even a single song. So, I suspect that the system board is fried. I have the latest firmware available.
Has this happened to anyone? Any ballpark figure on how much a fix would cost?
