Your hard drive is not getting the power from the port u r connecting to. So please check it with other port . If the same behaviour then it is physically damaged and u have to take it to the service centre
I have the same drive and just had the same problem. But I found a solution which will perhaps work for you as well. I opened the case with a screwdriver and took out the HDD to connect it with the sata and power cable inside the computer. And voila it started up again, so the HDD itself wasn't damaged, so i tried to put it back in the case and tried again to connect the external drive to the computer and it worked again. Perhaps the sata and power connector of the case was loose. Maybe this helps you.Hi, I have the same drive and just had the same problem. Hi All - I know this is an Old Post - BUT - I have been searching for All Night about a Similar Problem - My Iomega 500GB Hi-speed Usb 2.0 Desktop Hard Drive MDHDU - Had a Flashing Blue Light and was not showing up in My Computer or in DEvices - I Tried Searching for Solutions - and really thought that the Drive Itself was DEAD - because it was making a Ticking Noise !!! HOWEVER - this morning i found a Panosonic Power Supply 12V dc - 2000mA - ( the Iomega Power Supply is 12V dc 1500mA < 1.5A .> -- Wolla ... It Works .. SOLUTION - Try an Another Power Supply -- I was about to send this Drive to a Data Recovery Company - the Last time it cost over 1000 Euro to fix (recover) my DATA !! Hope this HELPS somebody !! :)
