My jet 3 power chair worked fine until the battery got low. It got down to where only 3 red lights were showing but the scooter still worked fine. I tried to charge the battery and the ameter was stuck on 3. After several hours, the battery was not charged and the ameter is still stuck on 3. What is wrong? Or how can I find out
You have said your problem was solved and I am happy about it!
However you will have a problem of charging the battery. (Because you have to connect it to the car battery charger every time).
As I said earlier, although the ammeter is damaged, charging circuitry might be working. For testing this (you will have to wait until the battery is discharged again), connect the two terminals of the ammeter with a piece of a wire (short-circuit the ammeter terminals). Try charging the battery. (Use a bulb as I said earlier to check whether the charging current reaches the battery. (If you are familiar with meters, you can use a voltmeter).
If the charging current reached the battery, you can use the in-built charger, but you wouldn't able to see the charging current because the ammeter has malfunctioned. Then you can replace the ammeter only.
Take precautions not to let the battery drain too much. You have said your problem was solved and I am happy about it! However you will have a problem of charging the battery. Hi! I need some clarification before helping you.
How long have you been using this power chair?
Didn't you charge it even once before?
Sure, try it and tell me the results!
The time is 2 a.m. So I'll check your response tomorrow morning.
Best of luck!
