My kensington wireless keyboard stopped working. It is part of a desktop set. I have changed the batteries. mouse is still working. all the things I read for trouble shooting says to reset the buttons on the keyboard and the sensor device to resync. Here's the thing...no reset buttons anywhere! Help!
Computers & Internet - Kensington - PilotBoard Wireless Laser Desktop
Here is what you do, shutdown windows, and start back up, the reset button might be hidden, look under the little tabs that angle your keybord, my reset or connect button is near the battery opening
Thank you! I did restart windows as well as removed and replaced the receiver. and that worked! I could not find any actual buttons...thought I must be nuts! :) All is well. Thanks.Thank you! The issue here with this reset thing or reset buttons ect ect, in reality when these keyboards die they just do not function.
The only thing it could be if that was not the case is the batteries. If the mouse works then the receiver is working just fine. You might want to consider another type of wireless technology called blue tooth.
Bluet tooth uses radio frequency and it can be used within 30 feet of the system. what you got is infra RED meaning anything is up for grabs. Things you can try.
1.Clean the lens on the keyboard 2.Verify the batteries are in correctly 3.Make sure your using the correct type battery you should not use just any brand.
If all those thing above are in order you need to verify the keyboard is in the line of site of the transmitter, that there are no obstructions. Try relocating the transmitter in a differentusb port.
The only true reset is take the batteries out of the unit and unplug the transmitter this will reset the keyboard and allow it to re sync.
I do wish you best regards,
