My Land Rover Discovery 2 will engage R but D,1,2 and 3 the engine only revs, I've adjusted the shifter linkage with no change. The *m and *s lights blink when I get the rpm high. What can I do?

My Land Rover Discovery 2 will engage R but D,1,2 and 3 the engine only revs, I've adjusted the shifter linkage with no change. The *m and *s lights blink when I get the rpm high. What can I do?

Have the codes read first. Could be a solenoid problem. But most likely a band problem. No matter where you take it. It will be a rebuild or replace. Unless you can find a builder that does side work.
