My laptop get an ip address of 169.254.132.191 instead of 192.168.10.5. I have tried wiping out all wireless networks and redoing it, also tried releasing the ip address and no luck. I have a desktop running wireless and it is having no problem with the ip address...help!
For that go to wireless network adapter property and set Ip address 192.168.10.5 in tcp ip settings. If you already tried that then enable DHCP in router . And then set in laptop wi fi adapter property ip get automatic. You need to configure your router. For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router.
Enable DHCP if you want to get ip from router. Then save settings and restart router. Also uninstall laptop wireless network driver then reinstall. Then check. Scan your computer with updated antivirus virus also stuck ip of wifi. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
OK, for a start, go, type into the, START>>RUN>>service.msc (enter) then when the services window comes up scroll down to DHCP, disable and turn off. also scroll down to, Zero configuration, and disable and stop that too. Now reboot. Now go to your "Cookies" and delete ALL cookies, and TEMP, TMP files, in fact do a "Disk Cleanup" and remove all temporary files, cookies etc. Now, use another browser, download say Firefox, Now use that, browser to communicate with your router, now login to the router and set it all up. Ensure that DHCP is set to ON in the Router. Now you will be assigned an address automatically, this is what you want, UNLESS you wish a STATIC address, which, in that case setup in networking properties. and it will be fixed. Although usually having it assigned by the router is best. Now, use the Internet Connection Wizard to setup your connection, your Router should be your "Gateway" and all other PC's are the "Clients". use your manual below to set it all up. broadband.motorola.com/consumers/.../wr850g_userguide_6.1.4.pdf User manual above, use this to set it all up.
