Hi, its because in the uk we use 230V and 50hz whereas the Americans use 110V and 60hz. What you've done is convert the voltage but not the frequency hence the loud noise. What need is a voltage AND frequency converter like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261718719033?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649. This will power all american clippers/trimmers and also some small appliances.
I got a clipper convertor that will make your USA clipper work here in the UK with out the noise or the need to put sponges inside the trimmer write to me at [email protected]
The Andis T-Outliner that you purchase from the USA is not for UK voltage 220 50 HZ, the Voltage is too high, the only way to control the voltage is transformer from 220V to 120 V. The Andis Trimmer that may work for you is the GTX trimmer this trimmer was manufactured for Canada and there voltage is 220V 50HZ.
