My Oppo DV-981HD DVD player won't turn on. The power button is neither blue nor red, i.e., neither on nor off; rather, it is kind of pink, as though lit both blue and red at once

I contacted Oppo, and they shipped me a new powerboard. Recieved it in no time at all, and was pretty straight forward to change also.:-)
Excellent service Oppo!I contacted Oppo, and they shipped me a new powerboard. Recieved it in no time at all, and was pretty straight forward to change also.:-)
Send the player back to OPPO as they are aware of this issue. OPPO has a flat $49 repair service for the LIFETIME of the unit after the warranty period expires. The problem is the main power board. OPPO will provide you with an RMA# when you call; give them a credit card number for $49, pack the player securely and ship it to them. They pay the return shipping and in about ten days you'll have it back working better than new with new firmware and the latest upgrades as well. You'll have to reset your Region Free settings and all your special parameters. OPPO will then warranty it for 90 days and if it breaks down at any time in the future again after 90 days, it's still only $49 for another complete fix.

I had this same problem; I've read elsewhere that this means the power board is dead and to call Oppo re: repair.
I just spoke to the service center (from the website). They don't service these anymore - FYI
