My Phillips 49 inch TV that is over 2 years old. It would not come back on after the recent power outage due to Hurricane Hermine
Trying the unplug/plug-in for several minutes did not work.I also did all the reset suggestions listed on several sites for several TV's which did not work on my particular TV either. I tried the remote, but concentrated on the switches on the set. There is no sign of power applied by noise, click, or the LED power on. assuming it was the Power Supply as there is not many parts to the TV's now, I ordered a Philips A4D1BMPW-001 Power Supply Unit to replace the old board but this was not the problem. I still hope this an easy fix with a simple answer or will it require replacing a part one at a time to isolate? I am sure with the electronics now, boards and other electronics using the principle of all connected for all to work, that there still should be a starting point. I assumed it would not be the actual on/off switch on the TV as the remote did not work either! I hope someone has a simple suggestion that will work. I sure do miss the old days when replacing the old round glass fuse in the holder worked....lol! I would appreciate a starting point as this set does not seem complicated with many different parts.

The method of replacing parts is costly and useless as a replaced good part may fail because of a bad part still in the circuit
IT is best to take it in for a proper diagnosis of the fault and quote then you will know what part to replace or if the power surge has caused extensive damage and the repair cost is more than another unit
always run your electronic equipment ( fridges, freezers, tv, radio, cordless phones etc ) through surge protected power boards
Thanks for the advice and input Bill! Yes, I use the surge protectors on several things, but did not have one on the TV. I actually had never had a problem with surges in 45 yrs at this address, but always a first time. I am wondering if it was a surge or coincidence. I always turn off all the heavy current drawing such as air, well, pool, water heaters, etc. because of current loading on power startup. I need an investment in a company that makes surge protectors with all I have as the "ones that work" are a little more expensive. The local power company puts a protector at the meter base of homes and charges a monthly charge for it. However, they only say it is protective for electrical motors specifically????? Not sure of that specific!!!! We are in the "Boonies" so it is a trip to get to a service center. I may have to do it. As far as the board I purchased, it was not very expensive.....surprise....lol and I can return for a small restocking fee. Added to the specifics, is that as a "Ham" Radio Operator, I have a large amount of vulnerable communication equipment at my home with several towers. I am well versed in grounding basics and confidant that my system is as good as possible with guidelines taken from an Engineer who taught grounding techniques Worldwide. But that is another trail...lol! Sorry to ramble on here.....habit!! Thanks again for your input!
power surges that do damage or over voltage surges caused from lightning strikes ( could be a storm 100 miles away ) or sudden shut down of industry
most surge protectors are only good for one good hit and the good one will have that on the sticker
motors starting up, compressors, and the like cause a drop in voltage and for the short period of time until they come up to speed seldom causes a problem
