My PIXMA MP530 will not recognize red ink tanks. When I replaced the empty tank with a new the light did not indicate the new one was installed. Thinking the new tank was defective, I returned it to the retailer and got the same results from the replacement. Any other color tank in the red location will at least turn on the light. My printer rejects it because the color is wrong

Make sure that all electric contacts referred to on that page are clean, especially the one referred to in step (2) under the "Installing the Print Head" section. Also make sure that the contacts of the ink tanks are clean. If this did not help, you might need to replace the print head.
