Have you tried looking at the sound stats on the Control panel? If you go to Start / Settings / Control Panel - then select the speaker icon. Check the first bar 'Volume Control' is at the correct level and hasn't been muted.
If this is not working you may want to try the microsoft office or other relevant website.
