My problem is that I can't get the weight value back correctly, all the command's I send I get back a 0. I need a simple command to send to the scale to get back the correct weight using hyper terminal, but I can't get it. Any help is greatly appreciated

Verify that nothing is on the scale. Lift the Top Plate and verify that no objects are under it. Push Scale Zero button. Let me know if that helps.
Calbration can be done this way:
1. you do need a set of weights
2. But check first the top plate is OK not damaged and sits OK,
3. press
scale zero.
4. If that does not work there is a cover at the front of the
unit sometimes with a seal over it or through the part that stops the
cover being shown. Press the button under this and follow the audio
instructions
5. You will need 2.5kg, 5kg & 10kg or 5lb, 15lb &
30lb depending on your country you may need Weights & Measures in to
verify afterwords depending on legalities
also: sometimes cleaning with either an ultrasonic bath or scrubbing with pure isopropyl alcohol will help.
