If the impeller has never been removed it may not come off. Impellers unthread counter clockwise off the shaft of the impeller by putting a big flat head screw driver on the motor end of shaft. If they have been on there for years they can become rusted onto the threads of the motor shaft. At that point if it will not unthread then you will need to break it off.
