My QC sort of 'grinds' when first beginning to sew (after being idle for a day or more) I think it may need oiling but there are no references to oil in the instructin manual. Any advice?

Newer machines, especially computerized models, have to be oiled/lubricated by a service tech.
Check the shuttle to see if it has accumulated lint, which can cause noise.
