My radio turns off automatically as soon as I hit the talk button
It still receives, scans, changes volumes and even enters the menu. As soon as I hit Call or Talk, it shuts off. If I hold the power button then hit either of the two, it works, but then it shuts off because I'm holding the power button.
I know it can still send because I found a trick, if I shut it off then turn it back on and still hold the power button, I'm able to talk and call, it's just a nuisance to have to do so.
Please help, is there anyway to reset the device?

Hi,
Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".
Initially, I would assume that you have a pair and that the problem is with just one.
Based on this, I would suggest switching the NimH batteries. This is to eliminate the possibility that is is a battery/charging issue. Additionally, pls try to verify that the battery contacts both on the radio and the batteries themselves are clean. You may need to scrape them off to assure positive contact. Further on the radio's battery terminals, you may need to slightly bend them (or stretch if spring type) to provide more pressure in the contacts.
Incidentally, removing the battery for an extended period of time is enough to perform a reset.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
Thanks for sharing this video. I am sure many would benefit and relate to the problem at hand and have an idea on how to go about it.
Cheers.
What has been tried so far:
- verify that battery level indicator shows a full charge;
- disable automatic power save feature;
- use Alkaline batteries;
- bend the battery terminals as initially suggested;
- open the unit and check for any corrosion on the battery wires or on the PCB.
- switching batteries;
- cleaning/scraping battery contacts/terminals;
- reset/battery removal for extended period.
