My rebel 60 needed to have the head replaced but now the air keeps blowing out of the air intake. what have I done wrong, I am sure I have replaced the new gaskets correctly but have doubts about the two oblong metal shims

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE THE PLATE UPSIDE DOWN OR ROTATED. ALWAYS MARK A CORNER AND WRITE UP ON THE TOP SIDE. KEEP IN MIND THE AIR HAS TO FLOW THRU THE VALVE DOWN INTO THE CYLINDER WHEN PISTON IS GOING DOWN AND THE VALVE MUST CLOSE WHEN THE PISTON IS COMING UP. MAKE SURE YOUR VALVES ARE CLOSING ALL THE WAY.
