My receiver gives me a PROTECT message when i turn the volume up to high and it shuts itself off what does this mean? this started after i hooked up a subwoofer
There is likely a problem in the power amp section that only becomes apparent when the increased volume demands sufficient current in that stage to push the amp into a potential component failure situation. The protect circuit clicks in and disconnects the speakers from the amp to protect them from damage should the power amp stage experience a catastrophic failure. Unless you are a trained technician, you should have the unit repaired before major damage occurs.
