What year? what tranny, ? a/t or m/t the lamps if good ? will always work if the following are good. the fuse (see glove box oper. guide) the tranny switch. bad. the wires, between these? and the lamps.?
if the fuse is good, and the lamps.(easy as pie checks) Btw lamps can short, try new ones, or one at time (hint) then it's a hard fail. you take a voltmeter (any ) and measure the voltage at both pins in the TRANNY switch, front side 12v, person 2, keyon, and in reverse (not running the engine.) rear pin, goes to 12v as reverse, (lil magic) yes, ? wires cut to rear, (trailer hacks ! are 99% factor) no?, the switch is bad. $$$$$$$ if A/T , if M/T cheap. if say the voltage is near 6-8v (not 12 ) this is a shorted circuit. finding shorts can be found by inspection, this feed line, Harness.
there are other methods, "hot wire or test light" but the Voltmeter will never lie. and the hot wire way can cost 5 boxs of fuses. its always your choice.
