My Samsung Jet will not connect to my wireless router. It detects it OK, but although I have been through the set-up procedure. It will not actually connect. my handset settings are: Authentication type WPA2 Encryption Type TKIP Protocol HTTP Linger time 300 sec Ad hoc = off Using 802.1x EAP = PEAP Authentication type EAP-MS-CHAP-V2 The router has no MAC address restriction set
Verify the current local IP address of your router. Home broadband routers are manufactured to use a default address such as 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.2.1. If you are unsure of your router's default IP address, or if you have changed the default previously, follow these instructions: How To Find a Router's IP Address
Verify your computer is connected to the router either via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly association with the router. In either case, ensure your computer possesses a valid IP address. See: What's My IP Address?
Open a Web browser window and request a connection to the router using its local IP address. For example, type http://192.168.1.1/ in the browser's address bar to request a connection to a router using the IP address 192.168.1.1.
If the browser request is successful, you will be connected to the router and prompted for the administrative login (username and password) information. Enter the administrative login information to authenticate yourself to use the router's admin screens. Broadband routers contain default usernames and passwords when first installed. Consult your router's documentation if you need to know the default login information.
If the browser request returns an error message, your computer is likely not connected to the router. You may need to perform additional troubleshooting to establish a connection. Try the following procedures and repeat step 3 above as needed to resolve any connection problems:
a. Reboot (power off and on) your router b. Temporarily disable your network firewall c. Reset your router to factory defaults (consult the manufacturer's documentation)
The above procedure is use to set up computer wireless system, it can also be use to set up you phone as well, follow the procedure to see how it works and apply it to your PHONE.
Thank you for your reply, however the main problem is that my mobile will not connect to the router although it does detect it's presence. It gives an "Authentication failed" message.

i found a configuration that works, follow the below procedure.
here's what i did:
wireless router side:
1. set wireless mode to B-G Mixed
2. Standard Channel = 8
3. Encryption - TKIP
Phone side:
1. delete the configured wireless connection/s if you already have one.
2. enable wi-fi but do not perform search at the moment
3. now open the browser and select settings then browser profiles press search for wi-fi.
4. select the connection that you want to connect to then type the details and match the settings on the router.
5. Auth type = WPA, encryption = TKIP, network key = router pre-shared key, protocol = HTTP, Home URL = address of modem (you can change it later if everything is already working), leave proxy blank, linger = default, adhoc = off, no need to do advance settings.
6. save the settings and do not connect yet.
7. exit the browser and go to Wi-Fi and select the connection that you have just configured and select details.
8. check all the settings if ok. if the channel is different with the router, adjust it on the router to match the one used by the phone. IP address = not connected (it will automatically connect once you browse the internet).
9. now, try to browse the internet but you must set first the connection you've just configured as default connection.
Take care.
