My screen in my dell 1525 laptop died. I bought another one from dell. After installation the screen seemed to work great. After 4 or 5 min the screen goes blank. I use vista home. Could it be a driver? Would the vista install disk have that driver on it? An external monitor worked fine. That's a different port though. I ordered the following: XU 106 Liquid Crystal Display 15.4WXGA,Video Elec. Stds. Assoc.,Samsung Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated
The 1525 has graphic issues where the GPU will overheat and cause this issue. There is a possibility that the inverter for the unit is bad. i have already got a monitor from dell where in the same time frame you stated, the same problem woudl happen. The inverter could not sustain the voltage properly to keep the back light on.
First look at the screen closely when it is on, can you see images etc of the system or is it totally black. if there is any type of image then the inverter or backlight is bad (usually inverter)
Next turn the system off and connect to an external monitor. Boot up and see if you get anything, if you do on it and not on the LCD then the graphics card should be fine. If you don't get anything from either screen there is a chance that your GPU is damaged or overheated causing it to come loose from the board. The reflow process to fix this is difficult, dangerous and you can burn yourself doign it. it is also not a guaranteed fix unless you have professional machines and equipment to do it.
