My Smith Corona Galaxie 12 malfunctions by automatically adding spaces between letters while I type. I would be a typing a sentence and it will automatically add a space even though I haven't hit the space bar. So a sentence might end up looking like this: "T his i s how i t en ds up lo okin g." Did you ever get a resolution to the added space problem? I just purchased an old Smith-Corona Super Sterling and it is doing the exact same thing.
