My son disengaged the latch while the door was open. Then he manually closed then opened the door. When I got home the door was half open and not latched. the trolley on the track was approx 3ft away from the motor. I moved the door and re-engaged the latch. When I tried to close the door it shut all the way and then opened back up to the mid-position and stayed that way. Do I just need to re-engage the latch when the trolley on the track is close to the motor? If so, how do I get the trolley on the track closer to the motor? I have a Chamberlain garage door opener.

If the track is a screw thread, then just latch the door anywhere along the track, and it will realign itself.
If the track is a chain-drive... then push door up until it clicks into latch.
