Very well could be the box. If you see little tiny squares that is known as tiling and is common when a digital signal is having a problem. If you are seeing what looks to be like a static or snow in the pix (especially in dark scenes) that can be a result of the TV. That would not be a failure ,most LCD Tvs have trouble with images that have light and dark together. It is just a limitation with the technology not a defect. Hope that helped. Thanks
