My sub-zero refrigerator setting was on 7 when i moved into my home 4 years ago and I noticed recently it was not cooling enough so first i cleaned the filter area but it still seamed not to be as cool as it should be so i turned dial to 8. 8 seams to be ok but does it mean there is a problem because i need the setting to be so high?
Good day, The important thing is to make sure the condenser coil is cleaned properly. It is critical to the operation of the machine. The coil is too thick to be vacuumed or brushed out. It is necessary, to blow the dirt out completely. Service techs use compressed air with a hose, but a good substitute is a good push/pull shop vac with a crevice tool attachment. It's messy and dirty, but necessary. After that the setting on the control should be set where you like it. The control may be going out of calibration due to age, and as long as it can be set to any number that works, then that is O.K. Although seemingly high, 7 seems to be the settings most Sub Zero owners like.
