My subaru was running fine and later on the highway the car shut down;i cranked it again and it shut down after about 2miles. I changed out the fuel filter and the fuel pumps,but nothing worked. I have noticed that my ignition switch when i turn it will not start the car on the first try. I also put in a new mass air flow sensor. 1996 subaru legacy outback

Try changing the ignition coil.
The easy way to test this, is turn the ignition on,for about thirty second's ,then feel the coil ,if it is hot ,replace it.
