My timer manual switch works,it turns the outside lights on and off. However the automatic dial,even when plled out and set to time to operate does not work.What 's going on? Isit me?

The two tabs are for On ad OFF. One is slightly longer than the other. If the OFF tab is in the ON location, it won't work, it'll just click past the time and not flip the paddle to ON.
Try this, turn the dial (NOT pulled out) around slowly and see if it flips the paddle to ON. Keep turning it, slowly, and see if it flips to OFF. If it works while you're "helping it" then it should work automatically. If it doesn't, maybe the gear is damaged and it can't move past a certain point.
Does the time move? Do you hear the motor running? I've seen the motors go bad. The manual flipping will work then, but the motor isn't running the clock around.
