Also if your ac adapter(powercord)is bad, the touchpad/mouse sometimes will malfunction and become impossible to use or not work at all.Start with checking your ac adapter voltage or try another charger first.
A common problem with this model. Have you gone into the control panel under pointing devices? There you gan test the mouse speed and several other options. I would also check to see if the cable off the touch pad is lose on the motherboard. This requires taking the top of the base unit. The last resort is the touch pad is defective, but I have not seen but a few go bad. I would bet something is set wrong, so go to the control panel and see. Also you should go to Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device Manager and click on the pointer or mouse option to see if the driver is loaded.
