My trane air handler's heat element is blowing 40 amp fuse
My trane air handler's heat element is blowing it's 40 amp fuse about every two day when in use. The unit is about 4 years old. Someone suggested re-terminate all of the high voltage connections. Any recommendations?

Who ever recommended that you re-terminate all the high voltage is correct. If everything else checks out ok on the unit then that would be the next step. One problem I have been seeing more recently is wrong gauge wire and the cold has been tripping units, and the other is that the unit is not on a dedicated line. Yours seems to be on a dedicated breaker so I would guess that the other you can look at is to make sure you are running the right gauge wire to the breaker and unit. But I would suggest that you also re-terminate your high voltage connections.
To answer your other question. I do not think that you need to rewire your disconnect. You can if you would like to but if your disconnect is not blowing fuses or tripping then you will be ok leaving it. But that is up to you. If you do rewire it then you know that you are good from the breaker all the way to the outlet. Otherwise still a possibility that you can have the same issue. If it was me, I would just do it all and know that it is completed.
Thank you. I am glad I could be of assistance. Please feel free to email me back if you have any further issues.
