My TV picture begins flickering with a bunch horizontal lines across the screen, then the pictures comes back and is fine for a while and then it happens again. We ruled out the DVR box and cable conncections. It is a 9 year old panasonic 27" tv (regular tube tv) with built in DVD player. Is it the tube? Is it worth fixing?
You have a vertical IC that is in need of resoldering. And you can bet you have a few weak capacitors very close to this IC that need replaced. And while you are at it, check for a high voltage cap that may be weak in the horizontal section. This would be the next step in saving this TV. If you or a hobbiest can pull this board you could probably do the repair. Use extra caution when you do this. Or best yet find a TV Tech!
