My unit does not go on. I press the on button and hear it then 10 sec pass hear it but it doesn't light and red light doesn't go on and then it shuts off
Make sure that your thermostat is set to "cool" and not "heat" (if it's set to heat, your AC won't turn on no matter what).
urn the temperature setting 5 degrees below the current temperature to see if your AC will turn on.
No good? Then you need to...
tep 2: Check the air filter
Find your return vent's filter (the return vent is where air gets sucked into the air conditioner).
Check to see if the filter is dirty (if you can barely see light coming through it, it's too dirty).
Change the filter if it's dirty.
"Wait, why am I doing this?" A dirty air filter blocks air from returning to the AC, reducing airflow over the evaporator coil, causing it to ice up. This causes a low-pressure switch to trip and shut down your AC's compressor (the heart of your air conditioner) to prevent it from being damaged. So you need to change the air filter to prevent all that.
