The black is a 110 "leg" the red is a 110 "leg" the green is ground and the white is neutral. Not sure of what type receptacle you have but the black and red are the hots and the white is connected to the neutral and the green is connected to the green screw or terminal or wire that may be attached to the box itself.
The receptacle should be marked "Hot" or ACTIF on the hot terminals or identified by reddish colored or gold screws. The neutral should be a silver screw. Make sure power is off at the panel and check with a meter or tester before proceeding. If you have any doubts, please contact a licensed electrician to prevent damage.
