My VHS Recorder on my Quasar TV will no longer record VHS tapes
When I put my VHS cassette tape in, I hear mechanical sounds but nothing happens; it sounds like it's laboring. I sometimes have a hard time trying to retrieve the tape, so I'm guessing that the ejection section is worn out too.

Yes, your pickup head and bands (belts) are all in need of adjustment or replacemnt.
If you are comfortable opening up the entire TV to service this combo unit - we can guide you through... otherwise take it to your local TV shop for a "tune-up" for around $50.
You will have it apart for over 2 weeks waiting for parts in the mail - where a tech will have it done in 2-3 depending on his workload.
Thanks for using FixYa!!
Hi! In your case, the most probable cause is in your VHS TAPE itself, You have to rewind the VHS tape manually using two pencil, and tap it in your palm several times. But if you can rewind it in your external rewinder then, the problem is in your RECORDER. GOOD LUCK thanks
Check that there is no piece of film stuck inside.
When this happen, the VHS mus be usually fixed by removing the upper cover, and accessing the internal mechanics to remove dirt, fragments of tape, or to adjust and lubricate mechanics.
The loading mechanism on these machines is very complicated, the most common cause is a defective drive belt. U can obtain a belt on line, do an internet search for parts for your model.
the most likely cause is the loading mechanism is defective, it is cheaper to just get another unit and run it that way.
