My Xerox XC 1040 lights are on but it will not copy. There is a H and a 4 that comes up on the small screen. We have had several lightning storms in this area lately. We have turned it off and also unplugged it thinking that would reset it. Can you help us with this problem???

Thanks for using FixYa. Error H4 is a fuse error which means that the fuser is heating up. To resolve this issue press CLEAR, EXPOSURE MODE, CLEAR, EXPOSURE MODE. The display should go blank. After this is done enter 14 with the copy count keys and press START. If the machine does not turn off and back on by itself - then turn it off and back on. After following this reset procedure if still the issue is not resolved then you’ll have to replace the fuser unit.
